Coruscate: (of light) flash or sparkle. Acatalepsy: real or apparent impossibility of arriving at certain knowledge or full comprehension. Saudade: a melancholy nostalgia or longing for something that perhaps has not even happened. Coddiwomple: To travel in a purposeful manner towards a vague destination. Querencia: a place where one feels safe, a place from which one’s strength of character is drawn, a place where one feels at home. Trouvaille: a lucky find. Strumfrei: having the house or flat to oneself, due to the absence of parents, housemates, or flatmates. Dérive: an unplanned journey through a landscape in which participants drop their everyday relations and “let themselves be drawn by the attractions of the terrain and the encounters they find there.” Numinuos: having a strong religious or spiritual quality; indicating or suggesting the presence of a divinity. Novaturient: desiring or seeking powerful change in one’s life, behavior, or situation . Resfeber: The restless race of the traveler’s heart before the journey begins. Strikhedonia: The pleasure of being able to say “to hell with it.” Solivagant: rambling alone. Peripatetic: traveling from place to place, especially working or based in various places for relatively short periods. Sehnsucht: yearning; wistful longing. Livsnjutare: One who loves life deeply and lives it to the extreme. Eleutheromania: a mania or frantic zeal for freedom. Schwellenangst: A fear of, or aversion to, crossing a threshold or entering a place. Eudaimonia: human flourishing; happiness or welfare. Peregrinate: travel or wander around from place to place. Fernweh: Wanderlust means the desire to travel. Fernweh elevates that urge to a need. Others say it is the opposite of homesickness. Supine: (of a person) lying face upward. Syzygy: a conjunction or opposition, especially of the moon with the sun. Phosphenes: a ring or spot of light produced by pressure on the eyeball or direct stimulation of the visual system other than by light. Vellichor: the strange wistfulness of used bookstore. Cromulent: Appearing legitimate but actually being spurious. Sonder: the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own. Petrichor: The smell of the first rain on dry ground. bombinate: buzz; hum. Limerence: the state of being infatuated or obsessed with another person. Mellifluous: (of a voice or words) sweet or musical; pleasant to hear. Hiraeth: a homesickness for a home to which you cannot return, a home which maybe never was; the nostalgia, the yearning, the grief for the lost places of your past. Vagary: a whimsical, wild, or unusual idea, desire, or action. Orphic: mystic, oracular, fascinating, entrancing. Metanoia: change in one’s way of life resulting from penitence or spiritual conversion. Ramé: To complain; moan; weep, cry. Lagom: enough, sufficient, adequate, just right. Fantods: a state or attack of uneasiness or unreasonableness. Eldritch: weird and sinister or ghostly.
